The Rev. Jordan Ware
I'm a native Texan who is new to Alberta. Music has always been my passion, ever since I was a little girl growing up in the United Methodist Church. When I attended my first Choral Evensong while studying in London, my heart belonged to the Anglican church forever.
After studying at Yale Divinity School, I was ordained a priest in 2013. I served as the Associate for Youth & Young Adult Ministry at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Fort Worth for four years before moving to Edmonton.
My husband, Derek, was an elementary school teacher for 18 years. He now teaches visiting school groups at the Telus World of Science. Together, we rescued a retired racing greyhound named Thor.
I've been the Music Director at Good Shepherd since the fall of 2014. I lead a group of about 10 musicians in worship every Sunday morning, and we perform a variety of traditional hymns and contemporary songs.
I achieved my Grade 10 RCM certificate at 15, and went on to complete a Bachelor of Music degree in piano in the spring of 2014.
Apart from my position at Good Shepherd, I work as a manager at Quiltessential Co. in St. Albert, am a freelance musician in the Edmonton and greater area, and am the president and one of the arrangers for the Edmonton Pops Orchestra. I frequently music direct musicals for theatre companies, and my most recent project was assistant music directing and leading the band for a musical entitled "The 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee" at this years Fringe Festival in August.
I really enjoy worshipping on Sundays at Good Shepherd, and we have a very welcoming family if you wish to join us!
The Rev. Tom Dean
I am a native Albertan who, after a career in IT, discerned a call to the priesthood in the early 2000s. After serving at St. John the Divine in Onoway for 6 years, I accepted the position of Honorary Assistant at Good Shepherd. I have been delighted to be part of this community and to assist the rector in ministry since 2014.
I have been married to Linda for 44 years, and we are blessed with 3 wonderful sons.
the Rev. Maude Parsons-Horst
I started worshipping at Good Shepherd in 2015 and found refuge and healing through worship at a time when I needed it most. I am now retired from active ministry having served 30 years since being ordained in parishes in Central Newfoundland, Ontario and 9 years as a chaplain with the Canadian Armed Forces. I served on bases in Ottawa, United Kingdom, Edmonton, and Petawawa with a deployment to Afghanistan.
I taught Junior High, Elementary and Special Education classes for 15 years before entering St John’s College, Nottingham UK for 3 years of seminary studies.
I look forward to assisting in the ministry at Good Shepherd and cant wait to see what God will do with me next!
My four children and nine grand-children are scattered between Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta so I have plans in retirement to visit them more often.
Ron and I have been married since 1991 when he came to Newfoundland from Pennsylvania, via Wisconsin, to be ordained. We are very grateful for the privilege of serving God’s church but look forward to sneaking a little bit of time for ourselves in retirement.
